Central Illinois Foodbank, established in 1982, distributes over 8 million pounds of food annually to over 150 food pantries, soup kitchens, residential programs and after-school programs in a 21 county region. Central Illinois Foodbank is a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger relief organization. The mission of the Foodbank is to collect donated food and grocery items from growers, manufacturers, processors, wholesalers and retailers for distribution to charitable agencies serving people in need.

Meet Bob Frobish. Bob is a volunteer at the Foodbank. He drives a truck every week around town to different grocery stores to pick up donations. Over the past three years alone, he’s completed 753.5 volunteer hours- and he’s been volunteering since 2005. Without the help of dedicated volunteers like Bob, we would have to pay warehouse staff- thus putting a further strain on resources. Along with Bob, several core volunteers come in weekly to help sort produce, pick up donations, and monitor partner agencies. If you’d like to volunteer, be sure to join our e-mail alert list. We’ll let you know when we need a little extra help.
